I don’t know about you, but Chinese food is always an option for me when my tummy is a rumblin’! It just doesn’t matter, I would never turn down Asian cuisine if it were suggested.
These days as a big bad grown-up, I tend to make my Asian food cravings at home rather than going out. I find myself feeling so yucky after I eat take-out Chinese from a restaurant. I just imagine their entire chicken menu consists of frozen battered chicken, fried and tossed in a high fructose corn syrup based sauce. Which don’t get me wrong everybody…it tastes delicious but the feelz that I feel afterwards just don’t do it for me when I can make something just as good at home. Plus, I’m a weirdo and could spend my days n’ nights in the kitchen. I promise you that in the time that it takes for that Chinese restaurant to whip up your to-go, you can have a “health-ified” version at home. Everybody dance now!
I’ve made a few different Asian dishes at home, but I must say this cashew chicken takes the cake….and the whipped cream….AND the cherry on top. The sauce is quick and easy to whip up, plus it’s MUCH better for you with no refined sugar and there is so much flavor, you’re gonna freak out. Caution: you may end up drooling, your eyes may glaze over, and you might even cry happy tears from how delicious this is. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya, but the below picture could be you.
Quick tip for those of you that I’ve convinced in the last three paragraphs to start cooking Asian food at home: pretty much every recipe calls for sesame oil and I enjoy a little bit more of a punch of flavor from the sesame oil so I get this bottle of Toasted Sesame dressing and marinade. Sometimes I’ll marinade salmon for a few hours and throw that baby in that oven for about 10-15 minutes and have an amazing, quick dinner…but that’s another post for another day. They’re not kidding on the label when they say “You’ll roar for more!”
Also, if you would like a great rice recipe, I’ve got you covered in one of my recent posts! So let us review: we’ve got a 30 minute meal that dirties very few dishes, is light and healthy, and tastes AMAZING. I’m just sayin’, you’d be a silly goose not to give it a whirl.
