For as long as I can remember, my mom has been making these cookies and for as long as my mom has been making these cookies, she’s been famous for them. They are the absolute most amazing cookies my tastebuds have ever encountered and I would expect others would say the same. The chewy and crispy morsels are one of the first things I ever whipped up in the kitchen. Yeah, chewy AND crispy…in the same cookie. I don’t mean to brag but after 22 years of eating and baking these cookies, mom’s got it down to an exact science. Just look at these bad boys!
Please everybody, stop licking your screens. In just half an hour, these could be REAL LIFE. Unless you have to run to the store of course, which would tack on about 20 more minutes but still…totes worth it. Once you buy one package of Crisco butter flavor sticks then you’re pretty much obligated to make three batches of cookies. Lucky you!
Now there are a couple things I will say that you must do in order to get these cookies juuuuusssstttt perfect. I can’t believe I’m divulging this mom and daughter secret to the world, but alas….do it for the food blog. Now the trick here is to mix up ALL the ingredients EXCEPT for the flour and chocolate chips. Then add the flour. I have provided spectacular imagery for you so that when you make these, you don’t forget this crucial step.
After flour is incorporated, add what these darn cookies are all about! Mom and I have never messed around about chocolate so go ahead and dump that entire package of chocolate chips in there. If you don’t want that much chocolate, feel free to add less but hey, I’ve only made these about a gazillion times and they’re not famous for nothin’ 😉
These cookies have served so many wonderful memories for me. Family dinners, birthday parties at school, telling Papa “thank you” for fixing whatever it was that needed to be fixed, sleepovers with friends, and a bag of them even came along with me when Nick & I had our first date 🙂 Just look how adorable people look when they eat them!
I know….I know…I’m a little biased with him being my brother and all. But really, who would argue with me?! So seriously, do yourself a favor and just make these the next time you’re craving cookies. Promise you won’t regret it.
If you can’t stand it one second longer and HAVE to go make these, let me know how it goes by commenting on this post! I’d love to hear about one of my most cherished recipes concocted in your kitchen!
